Colchester Vets4Pets Advanced Practice is part of the Vets4Pets group and operates as an RCVS accredited Small Animal Veterinary Hospital, set up as a referral hospital with advanced diagnostics and surgery done in-house (including CT, endoscopy, and orthopaedic procedures). The website also describes 24-hour in-house inpatient care, with out-of-hours care provided by Vets Now.
In the latest reviews available to us, owners describe time-sensitive care (for example, stabilising a severely injured cat and carrying out multiple operations, and recovering a 7‑week‑old kitten within a few hours), orthopaedic surgery experience (including two knee surgeries), and support during end-of-life care (private room while tests were run; ashes returned). Cost comes up both ways: some owners call it “too expensive,” while others describe specific bills as reasonable or note that the clinic subsidised costs after discussing options.

My cat Hugo appeared with a serious lower leg injury after 2-3 weeks away. Thanks to their quick action they saved his life, and now back to health after 3 weeks of total dedication and multiple trips. Nobody is perfect, you must always ask questions and keep tabs on the costs. I chose these as they have highly skilled surgeons and top of the art equipment, all done in-house. Th8s saved my cats life. I will now only use vets 4 pets. The staff are mostly very warm and welcoming, with a smile for every pet. They were very compassionate, and treated us so kindly. I made a mistake going to another vet and left distressed and upset, who were negative and talked just about costs. My only one observation was they gave me hope that it could be saved, and he had 2 operations, which could have been avoided, along with the extra costs I do however have immense gratitude and respect to their highly experienced surgeon who compassionately explained every option. She was transparent, leaving me with facts of saving the leg or amputation. . I mentioned the operation 2 days previously, which could have been unecessary. She ever so kindly took this into account and subsidised the costs of the amputation, which had taken every last penny, plus the insurance went very quick with the emergency treatments. In hind sight he was seriously sick initially and could not have been operated on, requiring vital life saving intervention to stabalise . I wasn't told initially he had little epidermal skin tissue on the lower limb, which I believed was healing,. I was told it had signs of granular repair, which I assumed was it was healing. Ultimately everything worked out as it should, and Hugo is now thriving Thank you so much all of you for saving my cats life, he has a beautiful future.

Polite reception. Clean waiting room. 3hr parking. Animal treatment good. Reason for only 3 stars I found them too expensive.

What can I say about this vets practice. Wow! They are incredible. I have been going there with a friend/client & taking her giant Cane Corso Italian Mastiff Kongo for 2 knee surgeries (poor boy). Giovanni & the whole team have been outstanding in his care and they show so much love to the animals. Kongo gets excited when we pull up there 😊

Very helpful and friendly staff to reassure you. They are open 7 days a week which is very convenient and there is plenty of parking spaces. They do appointments in the evening so it's great if you work full time. Would recommend this vet as I have never had any issues and they can also make appointments for Cowdray Ave Pets At Home if it's more convenient for you but they are only open during the week.

What can I say ! I’ve never met a more compassionate, kind and caring vets before , from the moment I walked in to returning to collect my pets ashes. Everyone was polite and compassionate the price for the emergency visitation to cremation and return is very reasonable and actually cheaper then what you would pay at a practice during normal hours ! They cared more about the wellbeing and quality of life of your little loved ones more then the money side of things I highly highly recommend this practice , everyone is absolutely amazing. Thank you for looking after my little one from start to finish your all a fantastic team

If you’re looking for a vet for your beloved fur baby right now, look no further! We have used Vets for Pets for last 12+ years and sadly for the last time yesterday! We lost our wonderful Teddy yesterday evening but our experience with Vets for Pets made, what was an incredible emotional experience, a lot easier. From the moment I called them, they were there waiting for us and took Teddy in straight away. They gave us a private room while we waited as they assessed his condition and ran tests. Dr Angus was amazing and we are truly grateful for how he explained everything to us while remaining very compassionate. This practice epitomises everything you could possibly want in terms of the best care for the member of your family that will, unfortunately, one day, leave a big void!

Unwanted visit to the vets today, my african grey Jasmine age 25 years had a nasal blockage and Dr Johan Veterinary Surgeon was amazing and extremely experienced and friendly service. £100 for 30min appointment and £30 for antibiotics after he had had done his checks and cleared the blockage. Never used a Chain Vets before and i was anxious due to alot of rumours on how limited there skills / services are. My Parrots are appart of my family and have amazing character. Todays visit was amazing and i cant thank Dr Johan enough. Due to my previous vet has retired i can comfortably say i have found my new Favourite Vet / Surgeon.
