RSPCA Essex Mid & North Branch is part of the RSPCA (a charity), and reviews suggest it’s often used as a lower-cost alternative to private/high-street veterinary practices. Owners mention routine vet care (consults, blood tests, medications) as well as neutering/spaying arranged via vouchers, with at least one report of a follow-up call after surgery to confirm an animal was doing well. A practical policy noted by one client is that there may be no waiting-room entry—owners knock or wave and staff come out to them. Experiences with communication are mixed: some describe vets and staff as patient and reassuring, while one recent reviewer reports a phone call about results that felt rude/pushy, especially when discussing the cost of an additional consult for a steroid injection.

I wish I could have left a more positive review. We visited for the first time Friday for my cat following a neurological episode the vet we saw was absolutely lovely and made us feel very at ease. Unfortunately following this today (Monday) another vet from the clinic called me with my cat’s blood results and was the complete opposite as to what we had experienced. She was rude and incredibly pushy on the phone and when I mentioned that I couldn’t afford to pay a whole extra consult to bring her back in for the steroid shot she now wanted her to have after the Fridays visit had already cost me £150 for a consult and blood draw she got snarky. Unfortunately we won’t be going back to this Vetinary clinic which is such a shame but I genuinely would rather shop around for a different vet then be spoken down to like that.

Absolutely amazing everyone who works here goes above and beyond. The main vet is a credit to the rspca, all the women are a credit to rspca.

My partner called after finding what looked like a snake in our living room. The woman who answered was nice and told him to email pictures but they must have misunderstood each other as the email address turned out to be wrong. We tried to call back a few times afterwards and sadly they must have been realy busy because no one answered and after a few minutes we kept being disconnected. Thankfully we decided to call the National Centre for Reptile Welfare who were super helpful. We texted them pics and they identified a harmless slow worm which does look like a snake but is in fact a legless lizard, we learned. Just leaving this here in case someone else faces what seems to be a similar emergency because we were a bit freaked and unsure what to do with no one answering the phones, and it was a relief to get an answer from the NCRW instead.

All for the animals, dedicated staff, better pricing than your local/high Street vets. And the profits go to charity so added bonus for using their services 🐶🐕

I went here to collect some medication for my niece's dog. What a great little place this is. The staff were really pleasant and helpful and their is some parking to the rear. Thank goodness the RSPCA exists for people who can not afford the astronomical prices of a private vet.

I received vouchers for kitten neutering and spaying to be carried out at the RSPCA. When I arranged the appointment, the lady was very patient; I've never had cats before and she answered all my questions. On the day of their ops, I felt confident that they would be well cared for. I received a call to inform me that all was well and a time for pick up. The after-care was clear and the staff really seemed to care about the animals. I'm due to return with one kitten for stitch removal, and I know she will be very well taken care of. The entrance for the clinic is at the back of the building, and there is space for a couple of cars in the car park. It was full when I attended, but there was space on the road to park. No entry to the clinic itself, just knock or wave and they will come to you.
